CMTS is pleased to announce that the Fall 2013 – Winter 2014 schedule of events has been finalized.

18 October 2013: debate on the film The Act of Killing by Joshua Oppenheimer and the portrait of perpetrators in documentary films (Milo Sweedler, WLU Languages and Literatures, introduced by Marta Marín-Dòmine)

8 November 2013: “Flash/back: Memory on Film” event for Holocaust Education Week (Marta Marín-Dòmine presenting her 2012 documentary 1930-1942: Mémoire juive du Quartier Marolles-Midi Bruxelles & Russell Kilbourn presenting Alain Renais’ Night and Fog)

24 January 2014: “Finding Diefenbunker: Canadian Nationalism and Cold War Memory” (Sara Matthews, WLU Global Studies, and Justin Anstett, MA Candidate at the Balsillie School for International Affairs; joined by respondent Patricia Molloy)

28 February 2014: “‘I Want to be Seen': Who Gets to Construct Women’s Narratives in Violence Against Women Work?” (Ginette Lafrenière, WLU Faculty of Social Work, Director of WLU Social Innovation Research Group, co-presenting with April Turner, WLU SIRG Project Manager)

20 March 2014: “Power and Violence in the Global World” (guest speaker Pilar Calveiro, Universidad Benemérita de Puebla, México)
